Housing and food insecurity is real for too many LGBTQ folx in Baltimore. If you could use a meal and some supportive time with Queer and Trans community, come by Queer Suppers.

Queer Suppers will be on the first and third Wednesday of the month in November and December. First Wednesdays are at Baltimore Safe Haven, and Third Wednesdays are at St. Michael and All Angels.

We're working hard to make a safe, warm place where our community can share and connect over a meal.

This event is hosted by Dreams and Visions, an LGBTQ+ church in Baltimore. We are not interested in evangelizing! Queer Suppers accept you as you are.

If you'd like to volunteer to cook, serve, or help out, fill out this form: https://tinyurl.com/QueerSuppers

Please note: volunteers must attend the volunteer training and cook day on November 3.

Every Second Sunday of the month Dreams and Visions gathers for worship.

This October, our service will focus on youth homelesness and housing insecurity for LGBTQ folks in Baltimore, especially among youth and young adults.

We’ll hear from Kevi Smith, an activist in Baltimore who has stories to share about the reality of homelessness and housing insecurity for LGBTQ folks. We’ll also hear from representatives of the YES drop-in center, and what homelessness has meant to them.

We’ll sing, pray, and continue to imagine ways to respond to an urgent need for safe housing for vulnerable Queer folk in our city.

Dreams and Visions is delighted to welcome Karen González, author of “The God Who Sees” as the preacher for our July Second Sunday gathering.

González explores the stories of immigrants and refugees in the Bible, including Hagar, Joseph, Ruth and Jesus. She’ll lead us in better understanding immigration as a central theme of scripture, how we can welcome immigrants and speak out about the injustices of our own immigration system, all to better follow Jesus, our “Refugee Savior.”

We’ll also sing, pray, and connect with one another at this soulful, spirit-filled gathering.

Learn more about Karen and order her book!

Second Sunday Gathering: "From Every Nation"

  • 3400 Norman Avenue Baltimore, MD, 21213 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Every second Sunday of the month, Dreams and Visions gathers for worship.

June's gathering, "From Every Nation” is a celebration of Pentecost! Often thought of as "the birthday of the church," on Pentecost we tell the story of the Holy Spirit descending with tongues of fire, allowing people from every nation to hear and understand each other, even though they spoke different languages.

The Christian church's beginnings are multicultural! How can we know each other across language and borders, especially when fear of the "outsider" is rampant in our nation?

At this service, we will hear Pastor Jean Paul Kisuku tell the story of his journey immigrating from the Congo to the United Sates, and tell us about the church he pastors, Mountain of God, which worships in five different languages!

Second Sunday Gathering: Chosen Family

  • 3400 Norman Avenue Baltimore, MD, 21213 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Every second Sunday of the month, Dreams and Visions gathers for worship.

May’s gathering, "Chosen Family,” is about leaving family, seeking family, and the family that God creates.

For many in the Queer community, being loved and accepted by family isn’t a given. So Queer kindred create families of their own, parenting each other, loving each other, and choosing each other to rely on.

Mother’s Day is a good moment to explore what makes a family, and share with honesty about the damage families can do, and the love families can give.

We’ll explore stories in the bible of Jesus rejecting and accepting chosen family, and explore how God calls us to a new family through the metaphor of adoption.

March’s gathering, "We Return," will engage contemplative practices. In the Christian calendar, the season of Lent is a time to pare down, simplify, and return to God. Letting harmful habits go, or adding a spiritual practice are a way of reconnecting with the source of love and life.

Home Gathering

If you're interested in connecting to other congregants and exploring your faith in a more intimate setting, Dreams and Visions is launching a House Church!

A House Church is a small gathering

in a congregant's home. Group members share their highs and lows from the week, reflect on the scripture passage and theme from our last gathering, and pray together.

Congregants Ben and Cait have offered to host and lead our first House Church at their home in Lauravile. You may have seen Ben playing the cajon at worship, and Cait playing Joseph at the Queer Christmas pageant! Plus their two kiddos, running/crawling around!

Sunday, February 24

Lauraville, Northeast Baltimore

3pm

Write Ben and Cait for the address and to express interest!

Second Sunday Gathering: Body and Soul

Why have spirituality and the body been so separate through the ages? And what does it look like to bring them back into communion?

At February's service, we’ll explore what it means to have a body, and how our sexuality, gender identity connect to our lives of faith. Though we may have been taught that our bodies are sources of shame or our desire pushes us farther from God, the Bible is filled with stories and poetry that say differently.

Every second Sunday of the month, Dreams and Visions gathers for worship.

*This gathering has been reschedule from January 13, because of snow!*

January's gathering, "We Are Called" will explore how God calls each of us in different ways. How do we decide what to DO with our lives, when the world needs justice-makers and each of us needs to stay healthy and grounded? When the world's need feels overwhelming, where do we put our energies? And do we respond out of duty, desire, guilt, or gratitude?

Second Sunday Gathering: "We Will Dream"

Can a dream make a difference?

This worship service will explore the Prophet Joel’s words that “your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your elders shall dream dreams, and your youth shall see visions.”

Who better to tell us the story of the difference a dream makes than leaders from Baltimore’s Ceasefire Movement, Charlene and Tiffany.
